Jockey Club Holistic Support Project for Elderly Mental Wellness (JC JoyAge)


The project aims to enhance the community capacity in older adults mental support, promote effective coordination among district elderly services and community mental health services, improve service access and coverage for older adults in need, and exert positive influence on families and the neighbourhood to improve mental health literacy.



  1. Hong Kong residents aged 60 or above with mild to moderate depressive symptoms.
  2. Hong Kong residents aged 50 or above who are interested in volunteering work, willing to support older adults with depressive symptoms.



The three main components are: 

  • A collaborative service model
    • To integrate the community mental wellbeing service for older adults with the aim of reducing the risk of depression in older people through outreach engagement, prevention and early intervention programmes.
  • Capital Building
    • To recruit and provide training for older adults to become Ambassadors and Peer Supporters to support other at-risk older adults , and to widen the social support network in the community.
  • Professional Training
    • To conduct staff training in social service organisations to enhance their knowledge and competence in supporting older adults’ mental health, and to organise public educational events to raise public awareness of mental wellness in older adults.
