True Light Home for the Aged Day Care Centre


St James’ Settlement’s True Light Home for the Aged, with subsidy from the Social Welfare Department, has commenced the Bought Place Scheme on Day Care Units for the Elderly since May 2020. Our day care service aims to provide a comfortable environment and comprehensive care to satisfy our senior citizens’ physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.



To provide day care service for senior citizens who are frail, cognitively or physically impaired, in order to improve their mobility and delay aging. Through participation in day care activities, senior citizens can develop social connections and become more confident.


Target Group

  • Age 60 or above
  • Residents of Wanchai District
  • Require assistance in performing activities of daily living, yet are able to mobilise using walking aids or wheelchair
  • No acute illnesses or infectious diseases
  • Not bedridden
  • Insufficient daytime care
  • Suitable for communal living

Rehabilitation and training

Our day care centre is supported by a professional rehabilitation team. A wide range of training activities will be provided to our clients, these include:

  • Healthy exercise

Application procedures

Interested parties can apply via the District Elderly Community Centre, and will have to complete a mandatory Standardised Care Need Assessment Mechanism For Elderly Services performed by designated healthcare professionals from the Social Welfare Department.

Respite care users need not undertake the Standardised Care Need Assessment Mechanism For Elderly Services, but can directly enquire and apply via True Light instead.



Service and transportation fees will be charged with accordance to the standards established by the Social Welfare Department.
